Arrival, reception at the airport, hotel, reassembling and discussion on the schedule of the workshop.

AM: Sunrise along the Statue of Liberty, then from Staten Island and Governor Island (open only during summer)

PM: Sunset on the observatory deck of the Rockefeller building, then Midtown night roaming.

3rd day

AM: The diamond river sunrise from Brooklyn, then walk along the same east river.

PM: Broadway lights from downtown to Harlem

4th day

AM: A lunch to celebrate the day at one of the highest rooftop bars in town, then a quiet walk in Central Park.

PM: Helicopter tour, special photography.

Departure for the airport for the 5 days workshop.


For the 6 and 7 days workshops:

AM: Sunrise on the observatory deck of the Empire State Building.

PM: Huston river by sunset and the strings of Christmas lights on Manhattan.

Departure for the airport for the 6 days workshop.


For the 7 days workshops:

AM: Morning glory at the Chrysler building and early rush around Grand Central.

PM: The lights of Time Square and the theater district (possibility to see a show here, please ask in advance for booking)

This workshop's goals

By night, New York is as much illuminated as the milky way. Time to dream. The sense of direction is weakened by the lack of ground and shadows. You float in an unreal world. When the moon is above Manhattan, you enter an enchanting universe, brought out by your camera.


You will work with the sunrises, the sunsets, the stars, so be prepared no to sleep too much! You will never forget this experience, peaking with the flying over the skyscrapers in a helicopter.

This workshop is a handmade product. Please, before any kind of bank transfer (if you think already about it, thank you, ladies and gentlemen), send me your dates, to know the schedules available. Use as well the form below for any informations you need.


The workshop starts on each sunday (day of arrival in NYC) of September, October and November 2012 (for a further date, please let me know).


The places are very limited, so book quickly your workshop!

About the schedule

 This schedule is just an idea for how the days are organized.


Notice that if everyone wants to add something else, it will be done. I'm not here to subjugate you in rigid rails. We will start daily with a meeting about the walk of the day, about the visited neighborhoods, about the focus on 2-3 main buildings to be gone into more deeply. We will also discuss the choice of the lenses and the possible approaches of the subjects.


The afternoons will be lighter, with a short walk around some interesting landmarks, then you will have some spare time, for you to discover some personal subjects of interests or simply to play tourists.


About the helicopter

It's a four seats Robinson R44, with only two photographers at the same time (both left side for no blind spots). The doors are removed to enhance the quality of the shooting. We will speak with the pilot to determine the flight plan to follow.

The flight is subject to re-schedule according to the weather and authorizations (impossible when the US President is in town for example).

 

I don't include here the first and last days, the arrival one usually being used for reassembling, resting and working together on the program, while the departure day is generally devoted to shopping and souvenirs.
